GENEVIEVE E. CHANDLER, PHD, RN

Co-Founder

Dr. Genevieve E. Chandler, PhD, RN, the creator of the Changing Minds Changing Lives (CMCL) program, based on her 20 years of research on resilience. Focused on managing stress, enhancing strengths, and building connections, the CMCL program has earned significant acclaim.

An accomplished educator, Dr. Chandler has taught over 5,000 students and professionals and trained staff and faculty to teach the CMCL course. She has authored numerous publications, including internationally recognized works like The Ultimate Guide to Nursing School, The New Nurses Survival Guide, and Positive Practices, From Stress to Strength: Build Your Resilience One Neuron at a Time.

Dr. Chandler actively engages in academic and public discussions, advocating for social justice and health equity. She holds a PhD in Nursing from the University of Utah, an MSN from Boston University, and Executive Management training from Harvard University.

With a distinguished career in leadership roles at institutions such as McLean Hospital and Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center, Dr. Chandler has received several awards, including the APNA National Leadership Award and the Heroes in Health Care Award. The CMCL resilience training draws from her expertise in Adverse Childhood Experiences, Trauma-Informed Care, and Resilience.

JIM HELLING, LICSW, CMPC

Co-Founder

Jim Helling, LICSW, CMPC is a psychotherapist, performance consultant and resilience trainer.  He has a Certificate in Traumatic Stress Studies from the Trauma Center in Brookline, MA and is an AASP Certified Mental Performance Consultant listed in the USOPC Mental Health Registry. He is an EMDRIA Certified Therapist, an Institute Approved Consultant in Sensorimotor Psychotherapy, an Instructor at UMass, Amherst, and a faculty member in the ASWIS Sport Social Work Certificate Program. He was the founding director of the University of Massachusetts, Amherst Center for Peak Performance and the UMass Athletic Counseling Office.  He has written, presented, and consulted both nationally and internationally on somatic psychology, interpersonal neurobiology, mental health disparities, multicultural practice, moral injury, trauma-informed care and resilience. He was an award-winning photojournalist and  Director of Photography with credits including 60 Minutes, CBS Reports, PBS Frontline, CNN Perspectives and Harpo Productions. Major projects received the Robert F Kennedy Excellence in Journalism, Columbia DuPont Best Documentary, Emmy and NAACP Image awards. He also won the Award in the Presidential category from the White House News Photographers Association.
